OpenAcademy® FAQs

Registration: Online registration is available through our website.  Please register early as courses are limited in enrollment, typically capped at 18 seats or less, to provide an optimal learning experience for our students. Once you have completed your registration, you will receive a confirmation email from the Academy’s primary email address info@theintelligenceacademy.net with pertinent details.

Discounts: When registering online, the full registration price is the default, listed as “individual registration.”  We do, however, offer a 10% discount for the following organizations (AFCEA, AFIO, USGIF, U.S. Military) or groups of four from a single entity registering at the same time.  Use the pull-down bar under “individual registration” to choose the appropriate discount if it applies to you.

Payment: An invoice will be emailed to you approximately one month prior to the course if not sooner. The invoice will include a payment link through Intuit’s secure payment processing service for your use in processing a credit card (Visa, Mastercard, AmEx, Discover) or a U.S. bank account. We also accept checks (please reference your invoice number on the check and mail it to the address on the invoice) or company purchase orders and government training forms (please email these to info@theintelligenceacademy.net).

Location: OpenAcademy® courses are typically held at the Intelligence and Security Academy’s headquarters at 4121 Wilson Boulevard (Stafford Place II),  Arlington, VA 22203.  Your registration confirmation will provide the exact suite/classroom location but in most cases courses are held on the second floor in Suite 200, CENTRA Technology’s conference center.   For those courses that will not be held at the Academy’s headquarters in Arlington, the information as to the location will be clearly noted in the posted course information and in your registration confirmation.

Metrorail: 4121 Wilson Boulevard is located just two blocks from the Metro’s Ballston-MU Station on the Orange/Silver lines.

Parking: Paid parking is available for Stafford Place II. The parking garage is only accessible traveling West on Wilson Boulevard, heading towards N. Glebe Road. The garage entrance is located between N. Randolph Street and the main entrance to 4121 Wilson Boulevard.  The garage is open from 7 am to 7 pm Monday-Friday.  However, please note that before 7:30 am visitor access is only available to the 1st floor lobby.  Access to the conference center floor is not available until after 7:30 am and the conference center itself does not open until 8:00 am.   Current parking fees are $8/day for early bird arrival before 10:00 am.  Payment can be made at the kiosk by the elevators in garage level C1 (there are three levels in the garage, C1, C2, and C3).

Schedule: Doors open for all courses at 8:00 am.  Course instruction begins at 8:30 am.  Half-day courses will end by 1 pm and full-day courses will end by 4:30 pm.

Refreshments / Lunch Break:  Coffee, tea, juice, soda, water and snacks will be provided throughout the day.   A one-hour break is scheduled each day at lunch time and students are welcome to enjoy one of the many local establishments.  Students will be provided with a map showing many options within walking distance. If you prefer to bring your own breakfast or lunch, we do have a kitchen with a refrigerator, microwave and toaster available.

Attire: Appropriate attire for attending courses is business casual.  We do suggest that you bring a sweater or light jacket as it is sometimes difficult to maintain a temperature that is pleasing to all.

Cancellation Policy: Open Academy® courses are limited in enrollment to provide an optimal learning experience for attendees.  If a course falls below our minimum enrollment we reserve the right to cancel, and will do so no less than 10 business days in advance of class and will notify students via the contact info provided during the on-line registration process. A full refund will be provided. Our student cancellation policy is as follows:

  1. Any cancellation made prior to 10 business days before the 1st day of class will be billed a 10% administrative fee & the remainder refunded via check.
  2. Any cancellation made less than 10 business days prior to the 1st day of class will be charged a 50% cancellation fee & the remainder refunded via check.
  3. No reimbursements will be made for no-shows or for cancellations received once the course has begun.
